PImages can say a thousand words unless they are in a perfectly crafted crazy and over-filtered dating profile. When you add videos and funny hints to the mix, you can get a little more information about the person in front of the camera. Before snackthe bustling TikTok-inspired app came on the scene, there was Feels, a dating app with an interface full of Snapchat-style stories and videos adjacent to TikTok.
Turned on It’s heard, you’ll still find smart directions, witty answers, and photos like most dating apps. The difference: here, pictures, videos, and answers to pre-written questions fill the entire screen. Browse a profile by tapping the left or right side of the screen, similar to Snapchat stories. The registration process, which can take up to 15 minutes from start to finish, allows you to tailor your profile to your needs by adding a combination of videos, text with stickers, photos, and more.
The real fun is when it’s time to start looking for a match. As you go through the other Feels singles, the other profiles will fill your entire screen. Similar to TikTok, videos will start playing immediately and you can choose to comment on the profile you see or react with an emoji (heart eyes, FTW), or just switch to someone new by swiping up. Unlike most apps, swiping right or left doesn’t indicate whether you’re interested or not. Also, there is no heart button or like to default to traditional social networking sites.
If you go to the Feels website, you’ll see what the so-called “non-boring app” is all about. As soon as the homepage is loaded, a video of about 20 years of dancing in a crowd immediately starts playing. In addition to the video, they explain Feels’ motto with the following description: “not a dating app, just relaxed relationships with no rules or labels, no social pressure, paternalistic mandates or traditional norms.”
The app is still relatively new in the United States, so you can quickly scroll through all the singles in your area. To date, they have more than 100,000 members worldwide, and the number continues to grow day by day. So if you try it now, follow it to see if things speed up. Ready to jump?
